Selfsufficient-Living Course
'What an experience! A beautiful piece of land and two lovely, hospitable passionate people. Rohan and Clara had a well-composed program, with room for your own input. We were taught by several people from the valley, which made it very diverse and interesting. It was paradise, back to basics, an unforgettable experience!'

Activities
During a Meeleefweek on Mae terra we offer you the unique experience of staying at our Quinta for a week. Together with the other participants, you gain experience and knowledge about all kinds of different aspects that come with a self-sufficient life. Topics covered during a Meeleefweek include:
- Nature integrated, regenerative agriculture: Handles for creating a healthy soil.
- Food production, processing and preservation: Experience and learn in the vegetable garden, we will also make sauerkraut/Kimchi ourselves to take home.
- Natural Pharmacy & Cosmetics: Learning to recognize and use herbs from nature, for example, what are good first aid herbs? We will make our own medicinal tinctures and we will make our own olive soap to take home.
- Wild foods: Recognition and use of wild plants in nature. We go into nature and while walking discover the edible and useful properties of the plants and trees around us and process them into our meal.
- Smallscale animal keeping: What is involved in keeping, for example, goats and chickens. We are going to learn how to milk and make fresh cheese.
- Eco construction & off-grid solar energy systems: How does the real off-grid life actually work? For example, how do we cook, how do we have running water and how do we heat it, how do we create our electricity.
- Permaculture in practice: With our guest teacher Wally, with his big smile and extensive knowledge about permaculture, we will practically implement permaculture.

Practical information
A Selfsufficient-Living Course lasts 7 days in which workshops are given every day. A workshop lasts half a day (morning or afternoon), the rest of the day you can do as you please at the Quinta or its surroundings. The workshop that takes place in the afternoon is often an addition to the morning workshop, eg in the form of a piece of practice or theory. During a co-living week, we are working on as many different aspects of self-sufficient living as possible so that a broad experience-rich basis is laid. It is possible to indicate your personal preference for certain subjects.
The workshops are led by Clara, in addition, there are several guest teachers who provide workshops based on their own specialization and knowledge.
The workshops take place on our Quinta, the valley in which it is located and the surrounding nature. Our Quinta also offers space to spend the night with, for example, your own tent. The afternoon and evening meal consists of fresh organic products, often from our own farm.
Costs
We charge a fee of €375,- per person (children up to 16 years €175,-) for a 7-day co-living week including accommodation, workshops, excursions, and daily lunch and dinner. For people with less financial capacity, it is possible, in consultation, to agree on a different amount. The maximum number of participants per co-living week is 10.
